Leadership Team

Guy Eakin, Ph.D.

Chief Scientific and Medical Officer

Guy Eakin, Ph.D., provides vision, leadership, and overall management of the mission-related efforts in research and medical programs. He is responsible for the research activities of NPF, including development and implementation of policies and programs that support NPF’s overall strategic plan and objectives in research. Dr. Eakin also oversees and manages the Research & Medical Affairs department and staff.

Sponsors of research are not only financiers, but also vital collaborators who bring connections, expertise, and commitment to all projects. Dr. Eakin has brought this philosophy to his work in a range of neurologic, metabolic, and immune-related conditions. Before coming to NPF in 2023, he led more than $139 million in research programs for the Arthritis Foundation, Lipedema Foundation, and the BrightFocus Foundation. These programs led to novel biomarker development and drug discovery efforts in addition to the creation of a 30,000 person home-based patient reported outcomes program. Dr. Eakin's opinions and interviews have been published in numerous prominent media outlets. Dr. Eakin earned his Ph.D. in developmental biology from Baylor College of Medicine before continuing that work at MD Anderson and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centers. Outside of work, he can be found keeping up with his incredible wife and two children or enjoying the trails and waterways near his home in Maryland.
