The National Psoriasis Foundation is excited to announce that the Psound Bytes™ podcast has reached 200,000 listens across the more than 200 episodes aimed at giving those living with psoriatic disease the confidence, resources, and strategies they need to thrive.
In 2019, NPF launched the Psound Bytes™ podcast, where individuals can obtain psoriatic disease information in an easy-to-understand, easy-to-access format. The Psound Bytes™ podcast, and its complementary series for health care professionals, Psound Bytes™ CME, provides the community with an educational option that meets today’s lifestyle, where they can listen anywhere – at home, in the car or public transit, in the gym, or taking a walk. Each episode features a leading expert or someone living with or impacted by psoriatic disease talking about understanding, managing, and thriving with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis.
“NPF has a long history of providing education to those affected by psoriatic disease,” said Leah M. Howard, J.D., President and CEO of NPF. “We are always looking for innovative ways to reach our community and the Psound Bytes™ podcast, with its short digestible format, allows people to listen where and when is convenient to them.”
“The Psound Bytes™ program has grown tremendously over the last five years, with 219 episodes to date,” says Bev Bromfield, NPF Patient Education Programs Manager, who produces and manages the podcast series. “Listeners can access episodes to hear the latest information about types of psoriasis, domains of psoriatic arthritis, treatment options to lifestyle changes, and more through the NPF website where you can sort by topic or by subscribing on their favorite podcast platform.”
In a 2023 Psound Bytes™ listener survey, over 50% of respondents said that they felt more knowledgeable about psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis as well as how they relate to other diseases after listening to the podcast series. One listener responded, “Learning how others feel with the disease made me feel less alone. Knowing what others felt made me feel validated when I felt the same.”
