Frequently Asked Questions

Can you help me find a dermatologist or rheumatologist?

Yes, Patient Navigators can find dermatologists and rheumatologists in your area who have experience diagnosing and treating psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis.

You can connect with a Patient Navigator at Ask a Patient Navigator or search the Health Care Provider Directory.

Can you give me treatment recommendations?

Because Patient Navigators are not licensed medical professionals, they cannot give medical advice or recommend specific treatments. However, they can provide you with information about the different treatment options for psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis so you are prepared when you meet with your health care provider.

You can connect with a Patient Navigator at Ask a Patient Navigator.

Can you help me afford my treatment?

Patient Navigators can help you find ways to make your treatment more affordable, such as through drug manufacturer’s copay cards and Patient Assistance Programs (PAPs).

If you are not able to use a drug manufacturer’s copay card because you are on Medicare or other federally funded insurance, Patient Navigators can work with you to explore other options for accessing your treatment.

You can connect with a Patient Navigator at Ask a Patient Navigator.

Can I donate my old home phototherapy unit?

Unfortunately, we cannot legally help with the sale or donation of your used phototherapy unit. In the U.S., phototherapeutic light units are available only by prescription, and the same laws apply to them as would any other prescription.

U.S. Code of Federal Regulations Title 21, section 801.109 states that it is illegal to sell, trade, or in any way distribute a phototherapeutic light unit unless legally licensed to do so by the FDA. Under this law, only a physician or licensed light manufacturer or distributor is considered eligible to facilitate the sale or trade of a phototherapeutic light unit.

You can contact the manufacturer of your phototherapy unit if you would like information on how to recycle the unit.

My insurance is telling me I must try a different treatment than I was prescribed. Can you help me?

Yes, a Patient Navigator can provide you and your health care provider with letter templates to use to appeal the decision of your insurance company.

You can connect with a Patient Navigator at Ask a Patient Navigator.

Can you help me care for someone with psoriatic disease?

Yes, whether you have a spouse or partner living with psoriatic disease or you are a parent with a child living with psoriatic disease, we have resources for you.

You can also connect with a Patient Navigator at Ask a Patient Navigator.
