Oxsoralen shortage

Valeant Pharmaceuticals reports Oxsoralen-Ultra (Methoxsalen Capusules, USP, 10mg, a key ingredient in PUVA light therapy treatment) is now available on a limited supply through pharmacies. For details about product availability and how to obtain supplies, contact Valeant at 1-800-556-1937 or

Another supply option is to find a compounding pharmacy who can produce methoxsalen and deliver prescriptions by mail.  For pharmacy options, search the Professional Compounding Centers of America or call 1-800-331-2498. Check with your insurance company since coverage issues may occur with compounded methoxsalen.

Physician note: Methoxsalen produced by other manufacturers may be absorbed differently than Oxsoralen. Please consult the prescribing information for details.
