Oxsoralen shortage

Valeant Pharmaceuticals reports Oxsoralen-Ultra (Methoxsalen Capusules, USP, 10mg, a key ingredient in PUVA light therapy treatment) is now available on a limited supply through pharmacies. For details about product availability and how to obtain supplies, contact Valeant at 1.800.556.1937 or pharmcs@valeant.com

Another supply option is to find a compounding pharmacy who can produce methoxsalen and deliver prescriptions by mail.  For pharmacy options, search the Professional Compounding Centers of America or call 1.800.331.2498. Check with your insurance company since coverage issues may occur with compounded methoxsalen.

Physician note: Methoxsalen produced by other manufacturers may be absorbed differently than Oxsoralen. Please consult the prescribing information for details.
