National Psoriasis Foundation receives coveted 4-star rating from Charity Navigator
PORTLAND, Ore. (March 1, 2012)—For the first time, the National Psoriasis Foundation has achieved the coveted four-star rating from Charity Navigator, America's leading independent charity evaluator. Receiving Charity Navigator's top rating indicates that the Psoriasis Foundation practices sound fiscal management and commitment to accountability and transparency.
Additionally, the four stars reflect that the Psoriasis Foundation "adheres to good governance and other best practices that minimize the chance of unethical activities and consistently executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way," according to a congratulatory letter to the Foundation from Ken Berger, Charity Navigator president and CEO.
Approximately a quarter of the charities receive the highest rating, indicating that the Psoriasis Foundation "outperforms most other charities in America," Berger said in the letter.
"We are pleased and honored to be designated by Charity Navigator as 'exceptional' and 'worthy of public trust,'" said National Psoriasis Foundation Board of Trustees Chair Dan Farrington. "This distinction is not only a great indication of the care with which we use our donations, but it's also a reflection of our commitment to remain true to our mission."
Charity Navigator highlights the fine work of efficient, ethical and open charities by evaluating the financial health and accountability and transparency of America’s largest charities. Its goal is to provide donors with essential information needed to give them greater confidence in the charitable choices they make.
