Get help: how the Psoriasis Foundation can help

The Psoriasis Foundation can help you present a successful case by providing supporting documentation and information. It is also very important to involve your doctor, and, if possible, have him/her write a letter supporting your disability claim. Your doctor is best suited to discuss your specific medical history and how psoriasis and/or psoriatic arthritis have compromised your ability to work.

Read our tips for presenting a successful case to the Social Security Administration (SSA).

Letters of support

The Psoriasis Foundation can provide you with a letter describing the disabling nature of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. The letter should be submitted with your file to the SSA. To take advantage of this service, e-mail advocacy@psoriasis.org and provide your name, address, and a brief description of your symptoms. Please include whether you have psoriatic arthritis and/or psoriasis and the location of your symptoms.

You should also ask your doctor to prepare a letter of support. Your doctor is best suited to discuss the specifics of your condition, its progression and your health history. The Psoriasis Foundation has prepared a sample letter that your doctor can edit and send to the SSA. You may copy or print this letter to use as a model. Note: This letter is only an example. Please edit the letter to suit your needs.
