In spite of the physical, emotional and financial burden psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis bring, psoriasis research does not receive the federal funding that it deserves. Because only about $1 per patient is spent by the federal government annually on psoriasis research, medical developments have not kept pace with the needs of the millions of Americans affected by this disease.
The Psoriasis Foundation is working to build a greater federal government investment in psoriasis research to improve access to treatments and move us faster toward a cure. Through education of policy-makers, legislative action and grassroots activity, we are strengthening and expanding research and access to care. Along with our hundreds of volunteers, we are active in Washington, D.C., and in federal congressional districts around the country, advocating for changes that will catapult us forward toward better treatments, a cure and an improved quality of life for everyone affected by psoriasis.
