National Psoriasis Foundation receives three-star rating from Charity Navigator

Three stars!

Attention responsible donors: The online charity rating service Charity Navigator has given the National Psoriasis Foundation three out of four stars for Fiscal Year 2008.

The three-star rating means the National Psoriasis Foundation:
“Exceeds or meets industry standards and performs as well as or better than most charities in its Cause.”

Recognized by the media and the philanthropy community as the most comprehensive website of its kind, Charity Navigator uses a numbers-based rating system to assess the financial health of thousands of non-profit organizations.

Charity Navigator's staff examines both how efficiently the group functions and its financial stability in the long term. They examine things like:

  • Portion of the budget that goes to its programs
  • How much the group spends to raise one dollar
  • Stability, with ratings based on average revenue and expense growth
  • Financial reserves: What’s in the savings account
  • The charity's commitment to keeping donor information confidential

Some of the highlights: The National Psoriasis Foundation spent 77% of its budget on programs last year, and has more than a year of working capital available to ensure the health of those programs.
